The tilde file (~=tilde) is a backup of your Windows Address book created by
a bug in OE - look here for details and a possible fix

i noticed an icon on my desktop [usually hidden] for a
program i have no idea about--it is an executable and its
name is '~'. any clues as to what it is [it's apparently
been there since 10-26-03 if that matters] and if not,
how can i find out without opening it? i discovered the
date from its properties, and it's an archived file.
perhaps this has something to do with decreased speed of
late? this group has been of immense help in the past.

help! thanks!
