Default Linksys Gigabit NIC

Network properties NIC Adapter properties Advanced tab. You may want to look
at the link speed also and make sure it's not set for or trying to use the
Auto-negotiate 1000 Mbps. Also if it's set to Autodetect you may want to set it for
100Mbps/Full Duplex to keep it from any attempt at the higher speed.

This is a jumper or DIP switch on the card itself? Or something I have to set in
Safe Mode?

I'll take another look at Linksys KB with the below in mind.

I've had startup problems with Win-98 and one particular brand of
gigabit NIC's (offhand don't remember the brand).

Problem was that I had set the NIC to 8k jumbo frame size - Win98
didn't like that. When changed to 4k, it booted and worked fine.
