Default Help! NEED RECOVERY CD for WINDOWS ME on a HP PAVILION XT914

M$ won't be of any help; you have(had) a manufacturer proprietary
RecoveryCD which means it's HP's problem (and registration) not M$'s.

A program to make a WinME bootfloppy can be downloaded from

http://www.bootdisk.com (WinME OEM).

When you boot with that (changing the Booting Order in the BIOS if
necessary), type:

A:\ SCANREG /FIX
and
A:\ SCANDISK C:

and when you retry Windows (after removing the floppy disk from the
drive of course) choose SafeMode first. Then if that works try a Normal
boot Logged.

I desperately need a recovery CD / reboot disk for WINDOWS
ME which came with my (son's) computer: HP PAVILION XT914
system P5209A. He lost the recovery Cd that came with it.
BUT - HP doesn't make them anymore for this computer and
Windows doesn't offer one either. The store/dealer where
we purchased the packaged computer also does not have them
(they refer me back to HP, who refers me to Microsoft, who
refers me to the dealer... (you get the idea). Bottom
line - I have a complete crash and cannot boot up the
computer in ANY mode (safe, normal, separate load). When
we trun on the computer - we first see the HP logo, then
computer goes to select options to open in safe mode, etc,
but no matter what we choose, the computer shuts itself
off. We can't get any further than that so can't use
System Restore.
I also can't write direcly to tech support at Microsoft
because they want the WindowsME registration number -
located in sytem info - but I can't turn it on to get to
it! I do have all info on the computer its'self (sytem #,
Serail #, Support ID)

PLEASE HELP!!!

WHERE can I get a recovery CD for this computer!

Thanks.
