| (4) I believe I may have read that "AutoScan=1" will not work in
Win98.
| HMMM: I do know that I am "=1" & it behaves like "=2" just as yours!

Geez. I think I am behaving like the "=1" I am. It doesn't ask whether
it should FIX a lost cluster. It JUST ASKS whether it should SAVE it.

Anyway, I'm sure I've read "=2" does not work for Win98 (or was it SE)?

| The [Options] section can contain the following settings. You must

|
| • AutoScan=Number
| Default: 1
| Purpose: Defines whether or not ScanDisk is run after a bad shutdown.
| A setting of...

| 2 does not prompt before running ScanDisk but prompts you before

| (1) As Myers said, check for "C:\Winboot.ini". It has the same format
as
| "C:\MSDOS.sys" & will override it.
|
| (2) Did you look below the filler "xxx..." lines? If you have an
| "AutoScan=2" there, it will likely override any above it.
|
| (3) Is it in the [Options] section where it belongs?

| (5) Open "C:\Windows\Command\Scandisk.ini" in Notepad, & see what may
be
| done in there. But I doubt it has what you seek.

| | In Win98SE I've tried the following, in MSDOS.SYS:
| |
| | [Options]
| | AutoScan=0
| | AutoScan=1
| | AutoScan=2
| |
| | Whichever option I specify, Scandisk will automatically scan, after
an
| | incomplete shutdown (AutoScan=2). Is there any way to make the other
| | options usable (I'd like to use AutoScan=1 ('ask the user'), if
| | possible).
