Any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to their website the recommend Windows2000 sp4 as the minimum
operating system
so it very well may not be supported by Win98

i SHOULD have said that I found all these versions by searching on
Winamp win98 download, and at least one, maybe all of them, listed
win98 as a supported OS. This is just so you'll know I'm not stupid.

However, A After I poste, I also found under "itunes Windows 98
search results" a link for Win Media Player 11, which I alrready know
won't run on win98.
B see below.

There is probably a win98 version here

http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=winamp

A great page. Thank you. Would be greater if it said which version
ran on which OSes, but it's fair that I have to do *some* work.

So I figured I'd start with the last version of v4, and if that didn't
work, the last version of v3. Aha, elsewhere it says there was no
version 4.

OK, I went to the winamp page and found a version history. But it
only had subversions of version 5!!! Search on "98" And suprising to
me, there is reference to win98 and ME in ver5.32, that they have
fixed the CD burning in this version. But your url above didn't go
later than ver5.24, so I dl'd that and it installed fine. I don't
know what I'm missing from 5.5, but it's not likely something I need.
(Well, I would like a second way to burn CD's, that 5.32 has, but
there's no big need.)

I only want to play the radio! WPFW.org, which didn't work at their
end with WMP, and they say the Real Media file is not available now.

So thanks a lot.

OK, so I searched for v5.32 specifically, and found that, for free,
and maybe I'll install it later.

First off, I never accused you of being stupid G

Of course not. You're too polite. But you might have thought it.

I'd go right to Old Version and try some out.

If v5.32 does not work

Version 5.24 seems to work fine. It installed, and played Listen Live
for the radio station I wanted to listen to.

V5.32 probably works, and if I ever need a second way to burn CDs or
have some other winamp desire, I'll install it.

go back to 4 or 3 ???

There is no version 4. They said that since the new version combines
the best features of 2 and 3, they added them together to get 5. And
a couple other reaosns to skip ver 4.

Old Version should have them...but if you go to WinAmp's home page
they may no longer have the older versions avail for download

I couldn't find them, and I don't think thye're there. I don't get
it. Eudora, or Agent, or both have all their old versions available
on their respective webpages, and Winamp is in most cases free, so
what have they got to lose?
