Default ME Registry Editor Error Message.

Scan your system for viruses, trojans, commercial parasites and other malware.
sys.reg is, or rather was, part of such a malicious package, perhaps
Adware.Raxums
(http://securityresponse.symantec.com...re.raxums.html)
although there are other possibilities. Use MSConfig, (Start | Run, enter
MSConfig and then click OK), open the Startup tab and look for an entry that
either refers to a sys.reg file (or whatever). When found, uncheck the entry
and reboot. This should hopefully stop you seeing the message each time you
boot. sys.reg was probably used by a homepage hijack to reset your homepage.

Download yourself a copy of the free Ad-Aware 6.0 from Lavasoft
(http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and also the free SpyBot
(http://www.safer-networking.org/) and scan your system for and remove all
unwanted parasites, adware and spyware that might be hiding on your PC.

You may have picked up one of the many variants of the odious CoolWebSearch
hijacker. See http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html and also
http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/c/cws.asp.

Download and run CWShredder, meirjn's removal tool from either:
http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip
or
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip
--?

I get a similar error message on Windows Me startup -
"Cannot import C:/Windows/sys.reg: Error opening the
file. There may be a disk or file system error." Any
ideas ??
