And the rest! I have some videos that are in the high hundreds, and HD

an SD one is a few gigs). Yes, my first actual PC had either a 40 or 80M
(can't remember - think 80). But if we're getting into Yorkshiremen
Sketch territory, the first computer I actually learnt on had a memory
of 16. (No, not 16K.) That taught you _really_ compact programming (-:

My first computer had no hard drive at all. I added a 10 meg drive,
which cost me around $150 for a USED drive. It did not fit in the case,
so I had it attached to the outside with some hardware brackets.
It was pretty amazing being able to boot up to Dos without inserting a
floppy. The built in monitor was black on amber only. Eventually I
bought a 3 color monitor, and I had to pay some computer shop to make it
work. I later learned they installed a video card. Then 3 color monitors
had a horrid picture, but it was a step above black& while (Amber and
black in my case).

Eventually I got a 286, with VGA color and a lot more speed. Then came
Windows 3.....

I can and do still back up my Win98 machine by simply copying the files.

I have found a way to backup XP by copying everything except the Windows
folder and the Documents & Settings folders. I make a point of NOT
keeping personal data in the D&S folder. Once and awhile I do back up
the D&S folder and Windows folder by booting from a flash drive with
Puppy Linux. Thats the only thing I use Linux for, but it works for
copying those two folders which you cant copy any other way.

I have never used any OS newer than XP, and really dont want to.
Although I'd probably give Win7 a whirl if it was free. But I have no
intent of ever using Win 8 or 10. (or Vista).
