Default New Motherboard, older HDD

Thanks Gary, but *was* unable to get to DevMan or Win Explorer or anywhere -
was prisoner of Win Found new hardware. After many failed attempts of
various kinds to install or to get elsewhere, and reset button pushes, with
resultant correction of cluster loss and so on, finally got the files
installed. The wizard was balky. I used a whip, manner of speaking, and
coerced it into a grudging conformity with my will.

| So what, exactly, is the problem? If you let it finish its auto-detection
| and installation of drivers, does it become unbootable? If not, then just
go
| into Device Manager and update the drivers from the package you got from
the
| mobo manufacturer. If it becomes unbootable, can you get into Safe Mode
| using the F8 key during startup (just repeatedly tap the key until you get
| the Startup menu.)
|
| But first.... Are you sure any of those new mobo drivers will even work
with
| Windows 98? You may simply not be able to use Windows 9x on that mobo.

| Previous mobo failed, after some use. Setup on current HDD. The MS new
| hardware found wizard won't stop and allow access to mobo's various
setup
| files previously copied to the drive with my main computer. How to quit
| the
| wizard and access files for this new motherboard? TIA , any assistance.
