possibility of a USB wireless device (it looks promising) and will follow up
on it today. Didn't know about the "IBM ThinkPad 240 2609 Internal WiFi
Wireless LAN card", and will explore that as well.

Maybe you will need Windows 98SE anyway.

You could remove the standard modem and use the MiniPCI slot for
something else.

Or you could try to find an USB2 PCMCIA card which I have in the Toshiba
Satellite 2710XDVD in addition to the PCMCIA WiFi card.
In that case you could use an External WiFi adapter atached to USB.
