One thing to note is that Defrag in Safe Mode will ALWAYS be slower than
defrag in Normal Mode - it's running in a much smaller memory space.

If you have a large drive it's going to take awhile. Things to turn *off*
to speed it up are "surface scan" for scandisk and something else for
defrag (don't recall and don't have it in front of me). Both of which
should be used occasionally though.
