after I do the switch from this computer to another
computer as I plan on using the old computer for games
when my grandkids visit and the newer computer for my
genealogy and such.

Unfortunately, the answer is almost surely in the BIOS
(hardware)
configuration. The ports are probably disabled there and
that is where
you'll need to re-enable them.
