Default Threat by mystery file

If Ad-Aware is freezing part way through its scan, try running it in Safe Mode
instead:
- Start the computer and hold down the CTRL key till the Windows 98 Startup menu
(boot menu) appears.
OR
- Repeatedly tap the F8 key after the memory count to bring up the boot menu.
- Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" and press Enter.

AlmostBob, Glee,
Thanks for your help. I suspected this method of encouraging purchase.
In this case, NoAdware and XoftSpy both came up with this file as a threat.
Spybot and Ad-Aware did not show such a file. My computer is working fine
so I'm not worried.
The resources that you supplied are great and will be referred to when needed.
I've used Ad-Aware before. Unfortunately I stopped using it because it
freezes up my computer part way through the scan, especiallywhen I do a full
scan.
Thanks again

A couple of spyware searches indicated that the follow file with a font
extension is a severe threat. It shows the location as
C/windows/fonts/acrsecI.fon. I have been unable to locate such a file so

I
can remove it. None of the fonts show up with this name. I haven't
registered the spyware remover so I can't ask the program to remove this
supposed threat. Are there files that are hidden? Have you ever heard of
this file. It shows the item as Kazaa, which I don't run on my computer.
Thanks. Ron
