Default Wheel Mouse won't work. Driver?? BTC M370

All buttons work like they are supposed to including "pressing" the
wheel as a button - but not "scrolling" the wheel.. I believe there

Here is an update. Still no wheel working. Two different wheel mice
tried. Everything else normal.

(1) No reference to any wheel when choosing control-panel\mouse
(2) The maker of my mouse wrote back to me & told me to use the
standard PS/2 default driver
(3) Though a "mouse" selection did not show up in normal mode in
control-panel\system\devices as it should (everything else
does, monitor, keyboard, etc), I took the advice of a reply &
booted into safe mode. In safe mode in the same area, "mouse" was now
present. I then saw 2 drivers loaded. A regular PS/2 driver, and one
that said "PS/2 wheel". So I deleted the regular driver. Rebooted.
"Mouse" didn't show up in system\devices, just as before. Tried to
scroll a web page on the Internet. Nothing. Same as before. Went
back into safe mode, saw "mouse", deleted the PS/2 wheel mouse driver.
Now no driver was loaded. Rebooted. The mouse worked as before - no
scrolling - wheel does not work. Went back into safe mode - now, even
in safe mode, control-panel\system\devices - "mouse" is invisible just
like it was in normal mode. So now I can't even see what driver is
loaded in safe mode.
(4) unplugged the mouse, & booted. Windows 98 told me I did not have
a mouse connected. Great. The auto detect was working. Plugged the
mouse back in. Same f**king thing. No wheel. No "mouse" listed
anywhere to see what driver is loaded, not even in safe mode.

When I 1st bought this computer, I am pretty sure the wheel did work.
But then re-install of Windows several times (not the wiping install -
it kept folders/configs), I am not sure when I lost the wheel
function. Then a old HP mouse was put on (non-wheel, & it detected it
& installed a driver.

If I deleted all mouse drivers, what driver could be loaded, since the
mouse still works as before. Though it detected before when I removed
the mouse, I never saw anything say "detected mouse, installing
driver".

The good news is I am going to live.

The bad news is I can't see what driver (if any) is loaded in mouse,
and the wheel still doesn't work.

I am going to try the teakUI suggested next.
