Default Will a Maxtor OneTouch 4plus work with win98?

It's your choice, and I have never tried that specific model on Win98, but
I've used various external One-Touch drives and my experience is that the
drive will work just fine as a simple drive. What won't work is all the
"One-Touch" backup software that's included. Note that while the drive
*should* work under USB1.1, it will be slow as molasses. Best if the
machines have USB2. Unfortunately, you can't get that in Win98 First
Edition.

If you want, I'll see if my Maxtor 350GB drive works under Win98FE, and if
so, I'll swap you, ;-)

I just recieved a 750gb Maxtor OneTouch 4Plus hard drive for Xmas. However,
all the specs I can find say it only works with Windows XP. I need a
detatchable external drive that can also be hooked up to a Windows 98SE
computer and a Windows 98 first edition laptop. The 98Se computer is far
more important than the laptop, as I can use ethernet for the laptop's
needs. Will this product work, or do I need to exchange it for something
else? I haven't opened it because I'm afraid the store won't let me
exchange it if I try it and it doesn't work.

If I need to exange it, what would I want to look for that is commonly
found in stores in the Chicagoland area? I do need a USB interface. Most
stores these days won't give me cash, so ordering on-line is out.
