Default June 2006 and Updates.

Hello Noel,

Yes I think I shall do the piggy-at-the-bucket thingy and squirrel them away
afore times.

And by the by, Noel, keep a jaundiced weather eye on birds with system
problems. We wouldn't wish you to be spirited away.

Good to hear from you.

Thanks.

Ben.

Hi Ben!!

As I understand it, the situation as of July 2006 will be that NO NEW
updates will be available for any reason for any of the Win9x OS's.

Windows Updates itself may (or may not) continue to be available for a
period of time thereafter for the affected OS's - but I would not count on
it, and suggest that you learn what your system needs (use the Update
History for that), and download it for offline use from the Update

Catalog.

(OTOH - I may be talking out of a nether orifice!g)

Hello,

It is my understanding the WindowsMe OS will no longer be supported in
terms
of Windows Updates as June 2006. I take this to mean that accessing the

WU
site and having one's system scanned will no longer be available. Am I
correct?

If I am - will the site offering the manual download of WinMe updates

viz:

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...en/default.asp

remain as on optional download site for WinMe updates?

If not it would seem to make sense for those of us intending to continue
to
use WinMe to download all available updates for safe-keeping until

needed.

Please confirm.

Thanks.

Ben B.
