Thanks, Fred. It's my daughter and she is a graphic artist (Macs and
Photoshop, etc.)......so she was only using WinME & PSP for the one project
and cursing it. I will pass this on to her, but she only visits once a
year, so will probably forget. I will also save it in my folders.

Cheers.....Heather

Heather,

Yes, she made a mistake by not saving the edited work as the default,
which is PSP format. Any time you work with a file in PSP, especially
one with layers, it will automatically set the default format to PSP
when you save it.

If you CHANGE the format, say to JPG or BMP, etc., it will popup a
message warning that all your work will be merged. There are no layers
in a JPG or BMP file, so that's where she made the mistake.

PSP is very good and I'm sorry to hear that your friend had a problem
but it sure looks like she ignored the information that was critical.

Lastly, I had PSP 6 before and use PSP 8 now, this procedure and warning
was the same for both of those versions. You may want to pass this info
on to your friend for "next time."

Hi All.......

Talked to Elayne and she verified what it was. She was working on

restoring
old photos and PSP will not allow her to *Save & Resurrect* (for lack of

a
better word)....the layer that she is working on. She said it

"flattened"
when she saved it.

IOW, she couldn't bring it up again to do more retouching. If I

understand
her....and you....she didn't want to *merge* the layers.....she wanted

to be
able to keep re-opening them individually to do further work. Photoshop
allows her to do this.....not PSP 7.2.

Thanks.....Heather (I didn't make myself clear at the beginning)

Heather,

You have to save the image in PSP format to keep all of the layers. You
can also save another copy to any format which will merge the layers.
Maybe that was her problem.

Yes......it DOES layers.....but it won't save them. I haven't a clue

on
this, but this is what she didn't like about the program. I am sure I

have

the word "layers" right. She was insetting revamped cameo pictures of

Ron's

ancestors into a picture of him at age 8......knobby knees and all,

grin!!

I will ask her when I talk to her tonight.

Hi Joanie.....

There is an update to 7.2.....I think. I put it on here for Elayne

to

do

her graphics work over a year ago......she (the graphic designer)

HATED
it,
not to mention she prefers a MAC. Sigh.......seems it wouldn't save
'layers' or some such.

Anyway....I do have another update downloaded I think.....but never

put

it

on. Check out the website.

Best from the usual cold weather here in Ontario-ari-ario......

No....you are right, Joanie. I have PSP 7.2 on here and never have
installed the .Net framework either.......he is misinformed. It

has

been on

this computer for 18 months at least.
