I have a toshiba laptop (portege 2010ct) I have fdisk with 98se. When I
restarted it it wouldn't read the driver for cd-rom. So I can't load OS. I
know the driver its looking for is on boot disk. I was able to format and
it
said the diagnosis tools were loaded to drive D. Is there anbody who can
tell
me how to get the system to load the driver. I also don't know my way
around
the system except that drive A: comes up, so I would need step by step
instructions. Thanks for any help you can supply.
1. For general instructions on reinstallation see
http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/w98_restore.html
2. BUT TAKE WARNING that some laptops (especially
Toshibas) seem to require proprietorial drivers (i.e.
generic Win98 drivers may not work satisfactorily.)
Are these stored in a special folder on your hard drive?
If so, you must not use FDISK or else it will wipe the
old C: including setup files.
3. Each installation from CD requires a boot floppy.
Several different types may be downloaded free from
www.bootdisk.com. There may be a special Toshiba
web site that suits your needs better.
