I need to know the a-b-c to getting a hosts file working.
My windows directory is not named windows.
I have followed the web instructions. Internet Explorer still brings
up a
file that i tried to put in there for 127.0.0.1. It is
"solitairecentral.com"
Any ideas?

Jim:
127.0.0.1 is the IP address used to identify "Self" on the network so
that will only get you back where you started.
If you want to use the hosts fle to get to solitairecentral.com you need
a utiklity called DIG. assuming you have a DNS server on your network
(Your ISP provides one) you can use DIG to convert
"solitairecentral.com" into the correct IP address.
Try he
http://www.bath.ac.uk/bucs/network/utilities.shtml#dig
They report 209.68.53.211
