Use a Windows 98 bootable floppy (download one from http://www.bootdisk.com/
if you don't have one) and start up the computer with it. When you reach
the A:\ prompt type the following and press Enter:

SYS C:

Then remove the floppy from the computer and restart it.

Dear friends,

I had windows 98 as my operating system. I tried to upgrade it to windows
2000 pro, but some error occurred and trial failed. Now while booting I
was
prompted two options with windows 2000 as the default choice and 5 seconds
to
shift to windows 98. So I tried to modify the boot.ini file. But by
mistake I
damaged the boot.ini file and now I am not getting screen option of
windows
98 .

My only option is switching over to windows 2000 which is not functioning.
I
activated the booting option by using F8. I tried using all the modes like
safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt,
enable
boot logging and the others. But by pressing any of the above options I
am
again being directed to windows 2000 boot up and my PC is getting hanged.
My floppy drive is not working?
I changed the boot sequence in CMOS set up and tried to boot from CD with
bootable CD. But while booting I am getting message “ Boot from ATAPI
CD-ROM
: CD-ROM Loader v1.2 BETA 09/07/01 © 2001 BY Bart Lagerweij.
Please note that my CD drive ( sony CD writer) is working fine otherwise
within an operating system.
I tried all boot up sequences and all CMOS setup options.
I am not able to start my PC.
How to get command from for my hard drives as well as that CD drive?
