Default How to gain access to websites that require latest Java installed

Back in the summer of 2006 (the official end-of-support for win-98)
Secunia.org was listing a grand total of 35 security issues with win-98
- most of which were patched and none of which were "critical". (and
there were hundreds of security issues posted by secunia for win-2k/xp
by July 2006)

Interesting stat, given its dating. But maybe not so much W98 being stronger?
(I think it is actually, if set up right), but the main reson might be that
business used NT kernels, homes used 9X kernels, by M$'s design and intent,
until at least three years later. Businesses would use many similar machines
and configs, and likely have bigger rewards for abusers, so that might
explain the stats. Security issues are only 'issues' when reported, after
discovery. (Kind of why I advocate LnS as a watcher on the gate).

Even OpenBSD is FULL of buffers ripe for overflow! They even had to audit and
rewrite several parts of the base install to fix this. The real question is
how many of such things get found and exploited by people willing to abuse
them. I'm sure W98 had some, the abusers just quit looking for them when it
was easier to get rewards from consistent systems in rich business
environments. Of course, it must have seemed like manna from heaven when home
users started taking such machines into their homes! Must have seemed funny
to the script kiddies, seeing people take the horse into the house even
before the enemy had put trojans into it.
