Even I know a bit about those.
They definitely still have uses, especially
for various machines with serial ports. On a lot of older or smaller stuff,
that can be a way to get binary files around. Xmodem will do those, Ymodem I
don't know about. Zmodem is nice, it can negotiate file selection from one
end, the other just has to be sitting waiting for signals. I think they may
also reduce some restrictions on flow control method choices, but I'm not
sure of that.
