Default Configuration in Windows for Acrobat Reader.

Start Acrobat, click "Edit", "Preferences", highlight "Internet" and make sure
that "Display PDF in browser" is checked. In not, check it and click "OK".

I have Acrobat Reader 6 installed on the system. However there are some
Registry entries for Reader 5 as well.
Problem. If I click on a Acrobat Reader file on a web site, the file is
downloaded and the reader is opened but an error message comes up that the
file cannot be opened as a file is missing.
However,if I download the same file and save it, open the same version of
Reader and then locate the file from within the Reader, it opens OK. Any
ideas what the fault is. Thanks.
