Default Shutdown dialog box won't retain "shutdown" selection as default

(Thanks for the assist Brian A.)

Uh-oh. Can it be a setting, then? What is selected at "Control Panel,
Power Management, Advanced button, Power Buttons box" in the "When I
press the power button on my computer" dropdown menu?

Is it Shutdown or Standby? Perhaps having it set to Standby will do
that.

| I do select shutdown with the "bolt" or "radio button", but it won't
retain

| If you are D-Clkng in that box, it will do the one you've D-Clkd, no
| matter which is bolted. It will not move the bolt.
|
| Therefore, bolt the "Shut down" choice, & click the OK button. All
will
| be well now!

| | When I go to shutdown my computer and the shutdown dialog box pops
up
| (
| | where you can select "standby", "shutdown", "restart", "shutdown
to
| dos",
| | etc it is my understanding that is suppossed to retain the
previous
| | selection. For some reason this works except for the obvious
| selection
| | "shutdown", it never selects this option by default no matter how
many
| times
| | I select this option to shutdown the computer.
| |
| | Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this little glitch in my
system?
