You may also wish to check with your laptops OEM for updated drivers.

Original Equipment Manufacturer! I'm learning so much.

So is that Dell for a Dell Inspiron 8000 or someone else altogether?
(tell me if I'm wasting your time and I'll go away.)

My time is here for you to waste. No worries. In this case I'd check with
Dell's Notebook support for updated drivers for the PCMCIA adapter. I'd
check, also, to make sure that you have purchased a compatable product. Is
the device compatable with the 2.1 standard? Is your PC Card slot capable of
using the card (i.e. does it too support the 2.1 standard? I'm pretty sure
it does but it's just another question to add to this.) Another option is to
simply remove all of the device drivers associated with this, boot to safe
mode, and try installing them from in there. After that you'd insert the
card and reboot. That should, I'd hope, work assuming your drivers are
compatable with ME. Does the device specifically state that it's Windows ME
compatable? If not then they may not have drivers for it that will work with
the OS though you can often find drivers that have worked for other people
at driverguide.com (registration required) and there's a forum there where
you can ask for assistance. The last time I was there the had a new "beta"
chat that you could use as well. Again, my time is here for you to 'waste'
though it's not a waste from my perspective. I enjoy doing what I do.
