Perhaps I am misunderstanding you as well......but why would you want to
turn off your firewall and antivirus protection? The whole point of it is
to have it running in the background ALL of the time. You don't need to
turn it off to download new definitions.

And the firewall part of this is the free Zone Alarm.....a program I have
used for some 5 years, along with EZ Trust.....so it is a reputable one.
And a very good one.

Now.....did I get something wrong in how I interpret the message below??
And I have had good results with tech support from CA. But I may be in the
minority.....must be my green eyes, grin!!

OK, I guess I should not have been so quick to trash the etrust EZ armour
suite. I did redownload and tried it again (supposedly it successfully
installed this time as well) with the same problems as far as the AV

portion
being unable to download what it needs to run.

I still have been unable to find a way to disable / turn off / exit from
these programs (without uninstalling them). It appears that they always

are
active and they can not be shut down? Could you tell me if I am missing
something here?

Also, I did attempt to contact customer support once again outlining the
exact nature of the problem I am having. I thoroughly searched their
site/knowledge base and could not locate an answer to the problem I am
having. Do you know if it is typical for them not to respond?

Thanks for your help.

Ditto......works fine on my WinME computer. And I only have the freebie

EZ
antivirus part. But obviously this person is like my *esteemed*
brother-in-law......who can't download anything properly.....EVER!! (G)

FYI the eTrust AV application included as part of EZArmor is anything

but
a freebee piece of cr$p and is working well here on a number of PCs

and
on
probably many millions of others worldwide. eTrust together with AVG

are
two of the most popular low cost AV applications used and together

with
NOD32 and Kaspersky are amongst the most popular AV applications used

by
those who care for their PCs.

That you have problems is unfortunate and given your problems when

trying
to uninstall suggests that perhaps the application never installed
correctly in the first place. I would therefore suggest that you try
reinstalling EXArmor including the eTrust AV part since if this now
installs correctly this should allow you to uninstall the application
properly.

OK so I installed the free etrust EZ Armour suite. Guess I should
have known better than to install this freebee piece of crap.

I could never get the AV to autodownload the virus definition files
so that never worked. The firewll seemed to be working ok. Never
received a response from customer support after several attempts so

I
decided to uninstall the whole suite (AV, firewall). Well, the
firewall portion seemed to uninstall ok but the anti-virus remains
there with no uninstall option in the directory or in the Add/Remove
programs in control panel.

Also the thing automatically starts itself up and there is no option
anywhere to even close and exit out of the program- what is the deal
with this? There is no reference to it in the startup directory.

How do I safely get rid of this AV program? I didnt want to simply
delete all the files in the directory. I also tied to re-downlad

the
program with the hopes that I could reinstall and then uninstall
everything successfully. Apparently, they do not allow you to
download the program a second time as my link from the email I
received from CA does not work.

Thanks in advance for any help.
