Keith,

I apparently misunderstood your question since the subject of this thread
was about uninstalling EZArmor.

Firewall - understood. In this case I'd forgotten we were talking about
eTrust AV as part of EZArmor. :-)

Exiting eTrust. Not as straight forward as it appears since AV
application run as a service and is tied in to the underlying operating
system. You can however uncheck the Vet Alert and VetTray entries in
MSConfig | Startup and rebooting although even then a background service
may still be running. I'm not sure of the benefit of this though since
you can disable Real-Time protection on the options tab in eTrust AV.

I'm still not clear though what problems you are having when trying to
update eTrust's signatures. Prior to writing this post I've just tested
the EZArmor install again on a clean out of the box install of Win Me.
During the install the AV component accessed the net and pulled down
aup_5835.exe using ftp from ftpez.ca.com. Now that it is installed I can
click Autodownload and it checks for updates and reports back that I am up
to date. This is logged in the file autodown.txt. Does this contain a
clue as to your problems. On this system that file is located in
C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust EZ Armor\eTrust EZ Antivirus. You can also
check the log by opening eTrust AV, and then View | View log files |
Autodownload.

I decided to give the whole suit (AV and firewall) another try. So I
have not tried to unistall the whole thing again.

What I meant was that I can not locate an option on the program to
get out of it (Exit the program). For example, if I open MS Excel,
work for a while in it and then want to close Excel so it is no
longer open / running in the background, I would simple go File-Exit
or click the X in the upper right corner. Excel then closes and is
no longer running on my system.

Lets say I want to close/Exit etrust AV (not uninstall) until I
figure out a way to get the signatures downloaded. Well, I have not
been able to find a way to do this. Can it be done? Am I missing
something? If it cant be done (without going into MSconfig or some
other system thing)then why is it set up this way?

I never had a firewall before installing the one included in the
etrust EZ suite. That firewall is up and running but I would have
thought the installation would have taken care of any configuration
issues between etrust EZ AV & etrust EZ Firewall. I am not
connecting using a router, just a simple cable modem connection.
