Default Windows 98 and net use

Hi to everyone!
I'm currently having a problem with a program running under DOS that I
use to store all the transactions made by the customers of my insurance
agency.
This software was developed in Clipper so there's no way to make it
print to a USB printer.
I had thought about sharing my USB printer and then launch this
istruction: "net use lpt1: \\host_name\printer_name /persistent:yes, but
the last option "persistent:yes" is unknown to the implementation of net
use in Windows 98.
If I launch the command "net use lpt1: \\host_name\printer_name\ /yes",
the shell responds saying this command can be launched only from a
server or something similar.
Well, is there a workaround to solve this kind of issue?
Thanks in advance,

Burroughs.
