Can all sound cards technically deliver 5.1 surround sound?

No. To know what your sound card or chip is capable of producing you need
to determine the chipset used. You can do this with a tool such as the
free Everest Home Edition form Lavalys (www.lavalys.com).

could someone please help me, I can only get the two front speakers
working and the sub, not the center or the sides. I also tried
adjusting the sound in control panel to 5.1, but nothing. Thanks.

I am running windowsme on a toshiba laptop at 300MMX. Thanks.
Logitech X-530 speakers set.
