Default SUWIN

Let's try doing it from DOS:

Bootup with a startup disk and at the A: prompt type (note the spaces):

REN C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1 OLDINT

Press enter. Then type:

REN C:\PROGRA~1\WINDOW~1 OLDWMP

Press enter. Then type:

REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WMPLOC.DLL WMPLOC.OLD

Press enter.

If you manage all changes without errors, retry the install.

If not, please post back.

Good luck.

Zee

P.S.: the tilde (~) in DOS: Press ALT and type 0126.

I'm trying to reinstall ME on an old Gateway (233 Mhz). Would not boot in
Normal Mode or Safe Mode... error message basically says reinstall
Windows.
So the cab files are on the drive in windows\options\install. Seyup runs
fine until about 66% of the files are copied and then I get this....
----------
SUWIN
An error has occurred in your application.
If you choose Ignore, you should save your work in a new file.
If you choose Close, your application will terminate.
----------
Ignore just keeps bringing up the same screen. When I choose Close I get
this....
----------
Application Error
Suwin caused a General Protection Fault in
module VERX.DLL at 0002:24AE
----------

The only option left then is close, and then it exits setup altogether.
So the customer comes up with his original CD.
I tried using that and I still come up with the same exact error at the
same place. What is going on?
