Thank you, Shane!

The help was useful and informative and appreciated! If anything else comes
to mind, please let me know. One thing I haven't tried is getting compressed
air and blowing out the CD-R/W drive. Maybe, unplugging it and letting
Windows re-recognize it and then reinstalling Nero would help. I'll try
anything and have not given up. Such a relatively small problem, but
sometimes those are the most difficult to solve!

Thanks again! If anything comes to mind, I'm all ears!

Hello (yet) again,

I've tried them all: updates, uninstalls, registry searches, fresh

installs,
etc.,... you name it. The CD-R/W disks still cannot be reformatted, and
occasionally the previous ones cannot be added to or subtracted from. I

did
get the Nero 5.5.10.56 and it worked fine as far as CD-R's are

concerned.
I
believe InCD 3.5.24.0 is the last of version 3 and that's what "used" to
work well for me. I tried version 4 of InCD and that brought on a whole

new
set of problems, so I removed it completely and went back to struggling

with
3.5.24.0. It's got to be something really simple that I'm missing, like

a
registry key entry or something similar. I'm NOT a quitter, but I've got

to
give it a rest. I don't want to burden anyone else with this problem. I

was
hoping someone out there had "been there, done that" and had a good idea
from first hand experience. When I get this solved, hopefully with a

little
more help, I'll tell the world! Actually, I did find one or two others

who
had the exact same problem using Google. There were no answers for them
either. So, I'm number three! My last resort, and it may not be so bad

or
expensive, is to dump this Pine (...Mitsumi?) 24x10x40 burner and

replace
it
with some "brand" name. But who knows, Nero may still refuse to work!

Oh,
the HUMANITY! ;-)

Thanks again, and I'll "keep my stick on the ice."

Not sure what Nero version you're on. Not that it should matter except

in
that whichever, you can probably still get a free update to a later

build.
This is advisable as it has become a significantly more stable product

over
the years. Obviously you're not using Nero 6, but with luck you are

using
Nero 5.5. If so you can update for free to Nero551056, but anyway look

he
http://www.nero.com/en/nero-up_vor.php for what you can update to.

More importantly perhaps though is that you can update for free to the

very
latest version of InCD. Take a look he
http://www.nero.com/en/update.php?pak=5

InCD, much more than Nero, has benefitted from continual development.

If
you
are having issues then you really want to be using the latest build.

Hello all,

OK, I'm stumped, really stumped. I've managed to pull out of a lot

of
Windows ME "nose dives", but this one is different. Here's what I've

tried
so far, with no results:

1) Completely uninstalled both Nero and InCD.
2) Hunted down every instance of both Adaptec and Roxio in the

registry
and
deleted them (...there were a bunch!).
3) Reinstalled the OEM Nero and InCD that came with the CD-R/RW

drive
(...the drive is a "Pine" 24x10x40).
4) Bought some NEW Sony 1x2x4 CD-RW's.
5) Tried to format one with InCD - Didn't work. Got error code
0051-0003-0064-00c0
6) Updated both Nero and InCD to the last version updates I once had

been
using successfully - Didn't work, same error.
7) Put in a previously formatted CD-RW and it is recognized, but I

can
neither add to it nor delete from it.
8) Big whoop, I can still record CD-R's. At least Nero seems to be

working
as before. It's just that InCD is acting up.

Any help/suggestions would again be much appreciated, even if to say
"trash
that Pine drive and get something with a "brand name""! Would

switching
over
to Roxio have it's share of glitches? I'm just puzzled as to what

happened
to cause all this and that I cannot seem to undo it. Somehow, I must

have
shot myself in the foot! Ouch!

Again, thanks for reading. If this is getting off topic, I apologize

in
advance and will stop all further inquires if so requested.

Here's a twist. A CD-R-W I've been using for a backup disk is
recognized
and
is readable. However, I cannot delete files from it or add files

to
it!
I've

I had this with one particular - good but aging - CDRW disc (and

InCD).
Whenever it happened I'd copy the files to the HD and was then

able
to
format the disc and burn to it again. However, the problem

occurred
with
increasing frequency until I binned the disc.
