Mart,

I had to swap out the mobo. There was/is something wrong in the
northbridge area of the original mobo with it running very hot, bios not
seeing all connected devices, memory access very slow and all manner of
other peculiarities. Am now trying to get it replaced or a refund based
on it not being fit when purchased.

Still have some small issues but those are down to me trying to push
things towards the limit. The box is intended to run the system(s) from a
RAID0 array of 2x80GB disks and data storage on a RAID5 array of 4x200GB
disks. The RAID5 is working fine but am having problems at the moment in
getting the OS to install on the RAID0 so am also running a PATA 80GB
drive as a system drive for testing until I can get the RAID0 all sorted
out. Mainly playing with 64bit (XP and Vista). There aren't as yet any
Vista drivers, 32 or 64 bit, for the nForce4 chipset which means I can't
use the RAID0 even as a data drive. Drivers exist for XP 64 but am
currently also running XP from the PATA drive. Tomorrow I hope to get an
XP 64 system running on the RAID0.

I can't wait to do some real video work on the new box which has a dual
core AMD 4400+ and 2GB of dual channel DDR memory.

Successfully, I hope! Which version of the mobo are you on now Mike?
- Seem to remember you had issues with either the mobo or the HDD's
(or both!!)
..... but haven't as yet done much with it ....

Opposite here these days - seem to be doing a lot of computing (Word,
Excel, etc.,) but very little 'experimenting' - amazing how much more
stable the PC is when you don't 'fiddle' with things - Harry!

Probably give you a bell sometime Mike,

Mart
