Conflict? You jest, Norton is a system destroyer and no Symantec product
should be allowed anywhere near a system running Win Me and IMO not near
any other PC either.

There's not much sense in continuing as long as a trace of Symantec's
malware remains on the system and even if removed the damage is likely to
be so severe that the only sensible option is to clean install the
operating system.
