Windows won't start
the restore did not work... I rebooted with the start-up
floppy, then chose the command prompt, the cd to
c\windows\command, then did the restore... it said it was
successful yet still there was no Windows. I can look at
the windows directory from dos and all my files are still
there I'm just missing that one step to Windows... any
suggestions so that I don't have to wipe out and start
over?

thanks Don - I will try this tonight at home (I'm at
work)
I'll let you know how it goes. Boy talk about learning
the hard way!

Oh dear, you cant just delete IE. It is part of the OS.
What you should try
now is reboot with your windows start-up floppy, (you
did
make one didn't
you) and at the command prompt type " scanreg /restore"
(note the space
between g+/). You should get five restore dates to
choose
from, pick one
from before this happened and preferably before you
tried
to install IE6.
This is NOT the same as System Restore. If that don't
work you may have to
format your hard drive and reinstall ME.

I had trouble installing IE6 so deleted it, was going
to
restart my computer and reinstall it. When I restarted
all I got was my wallpaper - NO Windows ME. There are
no
folders, no start menu, no toolbars. All I can do is
shutdown. When selecting CTRL+ALT+DEL the only thing
it
shows is csinject, closing that alone does no good
either. Starting in safe mode makes no difference,
system
restore did no good and even trying to reinstall
Windows
ME won't work because it states I already have a
Windows
program installed and when attempting a custom install
it
says I do not have enough memory. I'm afraid I know
just
enough about computers to get myself in trouble so I am
hoping someone out there can see through my messy
attempts
and help me to straighten this out! Does anyone have
any
ideas?
