There is one very small adverse side effect you should be aware of if
you relocate the desktop from its default location. Due, I ASSume to
a weird bug of some sort, regardless of the OS, if the desktop is
moved from its default location for some inexplicable reason image
files (and just possibly others as well) on the desktop, but nowhere
else, open a lot slower in Image viewer or whatever. You can test
this for yourself, by comparing the speed of displaying a jpg when
located a) in say D:\Desktop and when b) either located in
D:\Desktop\Folder or C:\Docs & Settings\[user]\desktop or
C:\Windows\desktop.

Interesting, Mike. Thanks. I do almost never place files (other than
shortcuts, of course) on the desktop anyway, but like to know these things.


Thinks, not now certain that this is true of Win 9x and not able to
compare on a real m/c as my old Win9x box is currently powered off
(long story that doesn't warrant explanation g).

I almost heard one of those once!
