Default Data Transfer

GymGirl wrote:
Hello Guys:

I have Windows 98se, 600MHz Pentium III Processor, 128MB SDRam, 20GB HardDrive, Desktop computer.

And Windows 2000, 850MHz Pentium III Processor, 256MB SDRam, 20GB HardDrive, Dell Laptop C800.

The harddrive on the desktop is starting to get weak so I want to transfer all of my data, files, programs, etc, almost everything from the desktop to the Laptop.

How can I accomplish this feat?

Thank you so much in advance for your help and assistance.

Hi,

Programs you will need to install on the other system.

Data transfer can be accomplished a number of ways. Burning the data
files to CDs and then copying is easy depending of course on how much
data you're talking about. That also gives you a backup copy. Don't use
burning software that burns data to the disc using "drag and drop",
such as InCD or DirectCD. Burn it the "old fashioned way".

I'm assuming that the computers aren't currently networked, so you could
set up a network using ethernet and copy them over that way, if both
have a NIC. Other options include DCC-direct cable connection
(serial/parallel ports) or even by using USB. See here for details:
