I have Windows 98 and somehow lost my DVD player. I have Windows 98 but am
unable to find it on my CD. Also, I got an error message that says since I
have a newer version (updates) than the CD the CD has been disabled.

When I try to play a DVD it says, "This file does not have a program
associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in My
Computer by clicking View and then clicking Folder Options." I did this
associating it with "Micro DVD Player" which I downloaded off of the
internet
but it will not associate at all with any program I use.

Could you tell me how to download Windows DVD Player and tell me how to
make
it work or what other free program I can use that works with Windows 98
and
how to make the association work? I know how to do associations under
Folder
Options but it just isn't working.

Is the DVD player shown correctly under Disk Drives in Device Manager?
Secondly, does it play CDs OK?
