Default ME Installation

Mart,

Missing chipset drivers probably wouldn't have been the cause of the
original problem. In truth with a clean install as Derek has said he has
done, missing drivers shouldn't be a problem at all so what is causing the
first error and lock up is anyone's guess. However since Derek now says
he can get into Safe Mode everything should be OK once he had identified
the missing drivers although, again, I don't understand why he is still
apparently having problems booting to normal mode. He should be able to
do this even though various drivers are missing.

Perhaps the installation log file setuplog.txt in the root of C: that
should have been created during the install will give some clue as to the
cause of the problem. The last few lines should be sufficient.

Hi Mike, although it has to be a driver issue, missing chipset drivers
hadn't occurred to me at the time of my initial reply. Let's hope
Derek still has the original disks supplied with the PC - although I
suspect that he may not - and can install all the correct drivers for
his specific PC. But a good call, nonetheless.
