Default AC97 Sound Card Shown in Device Manager but not in Multi-media Preferred devices

Have you looked in DM while in Safe Mode? - it may show things not seen in
Normal Mode

Hi

As some of u will remember I have flashed my BIOS ( flash bought from
e-support and specifically for my motherboard). This was because it was

the
only way I could get my system to see my new 120GIG drive.

My AC97 sound card is shown in Device Manager (with no problems or
conflicts) but not in Multi-media Preferred devices on the audio tab,
however it is listed on the threads of the device tab. I have no sound or
volume control on the t/b.

I have reinstalled the on-board card and it is set to AUTO in the new

BIOS.

Does it seem a BIOS problem? It obviously looks that way. If so, I can

leave
it and get support from them.

It seems that Windows is seeing the Sound card and it installs it OK using
the drivers on my motherboard CD. I have even tried the Microsoft drivers
but I have read in past messages on here that they dont always work.

I dont understand why it is seen in DM but not in Multimedia.

Everything else is working OK.

I just wondered if there was anything that i had not tried.

Thanks

Nigel
