Default Long filename error

wrote in :

Do you save websites? I've had this problem with the LFN issues
several times now. the offending file has always been a .htm file.
Some websites use absolutely rediculously long names. Look for htm
files. Use the search feature, search for all .htm files and read
their names off the list, looking for stupid long ones.

I have not had this problem since I now check the names of websites
when I save them, and shorten them to my liking.

Possibly related, a character that Windows won't accept. It ought to filter
for that when saving, but maybe not. I know that a + sign can be used in a
volume label if you write it with a disk editor, and it will display fine in
Windows (I use this when naming a RAM drive), but you can't write a + in such
a name otherwise, but you can do it in directory and file names. There may be
several weird inconsistencies like this that affect file paths, that may not
get filtered until Scandisk spots one in a saved filename.
