Default Big disks for Win 98 SE

I have some PCs running 98SE and NT4.
Is it OK to add a 40Gb disk as the slave of the existing
master 4Gb disk already in that machine? I want to know
for both OSes.

Many thanks.

There can be problems in a master/slave configuration if the two
drives have manufacturing dates that are several years apart. This is
more likely to occur when the drives are also from different
manufacturers.

It doesn't always happen, but it can. If it does then a safe
work-around is usually to configure and connect the second hard drive
as the master drive on the secondary IDE channel and also reconfigure
the CDROM/CDRW/DVD drive(s) as slave drives on either the primary or
secondary IDE channel (or both if there are two of these devices).

Good luck
