Default DVD player installation with Windows 98SE

No version of Windows includes the decoder software necessary to play DVD
movies. You need to install a DVD decoder software package. I don't know
of any stand-alone decoders but installing any DVD player software (like
WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc) will give Windows Media Player the ability to play
DVD movies.

Yes, I am trying to play a DVD movie. I have Windows Media Player 9.0
because
I am running Windows 98SE and that is all it will hold. I have tried in
the
past to play DVDs with Windows Media Player but I cannot but to be honest
I
have no clue what I am doing.

Are the files you are trying to open a DVD movie?

In that case, you need a DVD movie player, not DVD device drivers.

Windows Media Player should be OK. What version are you running?

If you are trying to open some other type of files, then indicate what
type
of files they are, and exactly what happens when you try to open them.
