Default Download Service Packs and Updates

Shane,

I've snipped previous for brevity but just a couple of points, part of the
'long story' was that my 'original' WinMe desktop box is a 'very old' 200MHz
and I'd just 'acquired an 'old' 1.7GHz Base Unit. Having a virgin (and
legit) copy of XP Pro, I thought that I'd retire the old WinMe OS and
scavenge all the hardware goodies from the old box and transfer them to the
new one and install the XP Pro.

Before installing XP - or more precisely, activating it - I wanted to
confirm the setup was still going to be good for WinMe (just-in-case).
Jeepers! hadn't realised just how S L O W the 200MHz box was. So I now
have a spare 40 Gb HDD with WinMe set up for this now 'new' XP box and
hardware, which just whistles.(Should have chucked the 200 MHz mobo years
ago!) If ever I need to revert for some reason - which coincidentally gave
me the opportunity to check the WU site and confirm the CU's etc., - then
it's a (fairly) simple task to swap the HDD.

But still have an old Sony VAIO notebook with WinMe installed to (try to)
use it to continue to address WinMe 'bare metal' News Group issues.

Regarding your comment :-
Anyway, I would suggest that making this
list is pretty much de rigour if one means
to continue supporting Win Me users.

I don't think I'll 'publish' the list - it's some 15KB in plain text
format - unless someone actually requests it.

You're probably being more conscientious than me,

Probably not, as it's only academic anyway - my conclusion being that you
can't beat the WU site method (whilst it lasts). However, I'll keep your
previous list of downloads (and well done for editing it) for future
