Default start up display

Hi Noel
Thanks so much for your help, I rebooted using the Start
Up disk and did the SCANREG/FIX - problem solved, it went
through a registry clean up and fixed the problem. Your
assistance was greatly appreciated.

I suspect that you may have either a corrupted registry,

or some recent
virus infection - although it could also be the result of

timing problems
loading drivers, or faulty RAM.

First - boot to DOS using your Startup disk
at the A:\ prompt type
SCANREG /FIX
and hit [Enter]
the system will reboot - remove the floppy as it does so,

so that it can
boot to Windows

If that doesn't help, then download on a known-clean

system, a copy of
F-Prot for DOS (www.f-prot.com) create the disks, and

boot using them,
running a full scan of all files on the HD - see what it

reports

If that doesn't help, then try cleaning up your startup

axis
look here for instructions on how to clean up your

startup axis, preventing
unnecessary programs loading
http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php

Check out you RAM using Docmemory from

www.simmtester.com - run it
overnight, and see what it reports.

Post back with your results.

Hi
On start up I get these messages:
0028:C001D792 in VxD NDIS(01)
0028:C023F58B in VxD VMN (OC)

After a few restarts the problem rectifies itself and

the
system operates fine, until I shutdown and restart again
later...this could take 3 or 4 restarts before system is
normal. It is very frustrating. It only started

happening
after I downloaded virus protection updates (using Panda
Platinium)
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers
Peter
