In windows 98&SE you have to install hardware drivers for each item to
connect to USB ports, the drivers may be on the software cd or at the
manufacturers web site, or the device may not support 98 at all. Install the
drivers while the device is not connected, reboot and then connect the
device, and the new hardware wizard should appear

| You were definitely right the sound card was much easier. Thanks again.
| I only have one more problem that I know of and if you can help me with
| this I promise to leave you alone for awhile.
| I don't know to much about mother boards but I have a couple of USB ports
| that are attached. When ever I try to attach something to them they don't
| seem to recognize that anything is there. I tried to connect my Palm to
one
| and Hotsync it with my computer but it won't make the connection. I also
| tried to hook-up a PC camera to them and it a;so says to check the
| connection. I shutdown the computer and restarted it to see if the
computer
| would pick up new hardware and it doesn't. Are there drivers associated
| with these USB ports also or is it a totally different deal. Again if I
| should post this somewheres else please let me know and your help has been
| greatly appreciated. Thanks. Keith
