Default PCX Thumbnails in Explorer 98SE

You are welcome. Glad to hear it. You were right, then, to suspect a
Registry entry in the first place, though apparently a blanket copy of
the .bmp data wasn't the cure. They are all a little different. I
suppose that .pcx one is also inside Aumha's Thumnail.zip of a dozen or
so.

| Thanks for everything. It worked a treat! Problem was in the default
value in
| the registry entry. I copied and pasted your value into my registry
and there
| the images were in all their glory.
|
| I have stored this gem in a safe place against future catastrophes.
|
| Yes I did have Thumbnails switched on, but in Thumbnail View only got
the an
| Icon, not the image itself.
|
| Thanks too for the links. I'll be looking further into those.

| (1) R-Clk the folder that has your .pcx in Explorer's L-Pane, select
| Properties, & check "Enable thumbnail view".
| (2) Refresh the view in the R-Pane by clicking inside it & then
pressing
| F5.
| (3) R-Clk the R-Pane, View, & select "Thumbnail"
|
| If that doesn't work, then...
|
| There is a repair for it at...

http://aumha.org/regfiles.htm
| & here it is...
|
| http://aumha.org/downloads/thumnail.zip
| This is the general fix to restore Windows Explorer’s thumbnail
preview
| capability for a dozen different image types. Based on the original
work

| WARNING: Do not use in Win XP.

Thumbnails

| | | I do not seem to be able to get PCX images to display as
thumbnails
| in
| | | Explorer 98SE.
| | |
| | | I have tried the usual dodge, where thumbnails have mysteriously
| | | disappeared, of amending the registry entry by copying down the
| | relevant bits
| | | from a .bmp image down to a PCX but this has not worked.
| | |
| | | Can anyone throw some light on this, please?
