Default PCX Thumbnails in Explorer 98SE

Thanks for everything. It worked a treat! Problem was in the default value in
the registry entry. I copied and pasted your value into my registry and there
the images were in all their glory.

I have stored this gem in a safe place against future catastrophes.

Yes I did have Thumbnails switched on, but in Thumbnail View only got the an
Icon, not the image itself.

Thanks too for the links. I'll be looking further into those.

(1) R-Clk the folder that has your .pcx in Explorer's L-Pane, select
Properties, & check "Enable thumbnail view".
(2) Refresh the view in the R-Pane by clicking inside it & then pressing
F5.
(3) R-Clk the R-Pane, View, & select "Thumbnail"

If that doesn't work, then...

There is a repair for it at...
http://aumha.org/regfiles.htm
& here it is...

This is the general fix to restore Windows Explorer’s thumbnail preview
capability for a dozen different image types. Based on the original work
of Alex Nichol, Doug Knox & other MS-MVPs.
WARNING: Do not use in Win XP.

| That's what mine looks like, but I have no .pcx file with which to see

| (a) R-Clk the folder in the L=Pane, & check "Enable thumbnail view".

| (c) R-Clk in R-Pane, View, Thumbnails.

| And here is what my .bmp looks like...

| | I do not seem to be able to get PCX images to display as thumbnails
in
| | Explorer 98SE.
| |
| | I have tried the usual dodge, where thumbnails have mysteriously
| | disappeared, of amending the registry entry by copying down the
| relevant bits
| | from a .bmp image down to a PCX but this has not worked.
| |
| | Can anyone throw some light on this, please?
