Default ME broadband and a router

Can you connect to the internet using the other computers?
are you connecting OK to the router? (can you open the router's
configuration interface in IE?)
does the router claim to be connected? - if not, then the PC has no chance!
usually, the internet connection has to go to a specific port on the
router - the others can be swapped around - make sure that it's connected to
the right one.
Is the router compatible with your ISP (who is your ISP?)?

Try this
Reset your router to manufacturer's configuration (RTFM for that! - look
here - http://www.dlink.com/products/defaul...d=DI-604&tab=3)
Make sure that the PC and Internet connections are correct, then go to IE
and try typing 192.168.0.1 into the address bar - if the page opens, then
enter ther username and password (usually admin is the username - the
password is left blank
Enter any required information in the setup fields manually

and then Save the configuration and reboot the router - you should be good
to go.
(It frequently helps to uninstall any ISP-supplied configuration software
prior to this, as it gets in the way, mostly!)

I've had cable broadband directly connected to my ME puter for about a
year
now.
No problems with the link..
However I'm now putting a router (DLink DI-604) in the picture. (To share
internet with 2 other puters)
So far I've been unable to get on the internet when using the router.
I've ran the wizard and all the stuff I can locate from the ME help
files..
I'm in some deep water here guys and I'd appreciate some insight from the
old hands using these things.

Tks,
