Default Boot failure

I tried using a recovery disk already and it said that it couldn't read the
HD, that's why I went to ask other people.

My windows 98 computer won't boot because it can not read drive C. Any
advice on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
in
advance.

Most hard drive manufacturers have diagnostic software available
for download.

Maxtor and Seagate http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/
Western Digital

Thank you, but is there a solution for computers that will not boot to
the
GUI?

There are Windows applications, but the basic versions create a
bootable floppy, complete with its own operating system and
diagnostic software.

What I mean is, nothing seems to work, I have to operate on BIOS, since
the
HD can't be read. Is there anything I can do other than replacing the Hard
drive and reinstalling?

If the computer will boot from the floppy drive, all you have to do is
create the
floppy disk and use it to start the computer.
