Thanks Cari. I have done the uninstall/reinstall and both cartridges have
ink. I also purchased a new USB cable.

I connected and installed a different printer (Canon), as a test and tried
to print. The exact same thing happened. The printer made all the noises as
if it was printing the document, but the page ejected blank with absolutely
no marks on it ! Is it possible that some setting within Windows 98SE needs
to be adjusted ?

First thing to check is that there is enough ink in both cartridges. Even
if you're only printing black text, the color ink tank also needs ink (of
all 3 colors in it) for the black to work.

Then uninstall and reinstall the printer. Another thing to try is a change
of cable, if it's possible to use USB, do so.
