Why not change the Properties of the icon to use IE?
Right-click it and select Properties and enter "C:\Program
Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" as the Target.

I'm still at a loss to explain what happened, but I found article
299294
shows how to recover it.
I was able to do this by using the windows\options\install (tip from
Mike
the other day about use this path instead of the WinME CD ... thanks
Mike)
but the quick launch still doesnt show the 'e'.
I'm going to reboot and see what happens.

Something very wacky is going on. I was using Internet explorer when
all
of
a sudden it closed up, and message that windows cannot find
iexplorer.exe
showed up. Down in the shortcut try, the icon has changed from the
'e'
to
what looks like an executable file. When I hover over it with the
mouse,
dw15.exe shows as the name.
what the heck?????
